Moments Matter with Shot@Life

New York, New York. The city that never sleeps. And so far, my sleep has been extremely limited. I left Kentucky at 5am on Wednesday and I've been moving ever since. I'm just too excited to sleep. Too eager too talk to friends that I haven't seen in close to a year. Too eager too make connections and talk about causes at the Social Good Summit which is starting in just a few hours. Too eager to start taking photos of all my family's milestones and add them to the Shot@Life mobile app.

 Download the app today.

What's that you say? You've never heard of this app? That's because it will launch today,  here in New York City during the United Nations Foundation and Mashable Social Good Summit.  And last night I was thrilled to be invited to a party to celebrate the fact that "moments matter." All moments. The big moments where your child reaches a milestone such as tying their shoe for the first time, or a little moment where they do their homework without even being asked (begged, cajoled, or threatened). This app allows you to snap a photo, add a Shot@Life logo, and share with your friends and family...because all moments matter.

With this app not only will you be able to capture those moments when they take their shot at making a silly face, but you will be able to share those moments through your social media sites. By capturing those moments and sharing with others you are actually helping to spread the word about how important it is that all children, everywhere, have access to vaccines. Vaccines that give these children a shot at a healthy life and their family a shot at reaching milestones. With the help of the milestone tracker on the app you'll be able to stay connected with what the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) sites as developmental milestones and will help you track immunization schedules. What a great tool to have along with a fun app that allows you to capture those incredible moments!

Moments such as hugging friends you haven't seen in months, or meeting people you only know through social media. Moments such as children and adults decorating cookies and tee shirts, wearing funny hats, and watching with wonder as their most fantastic balloon creature creations come to life. Moments that we sometimes miss because we are too busy to stop and be in the moment. Moments that some families never get to have because they didn't have access to basic health care or vaccines.

We all have different moments that matter to us. We all measure those moments differently. But in the end we all know that there is always time to have a moment. To take a shot at...

With my most memorable friend, Holly Pavlika, of Momentum

making a silly face with a friend. Late at night. In New York City. A memory and a moment that I will cherish. A memory and a moment made possible by Shot@Life. Because every child deserves a shot at growing up and being child-like when the moment presents itself.

Join me in New York at the launch event around 3pm. I'll be busy making moments matter. I hope you are too.

“In a person's lifetime there may be not more than half a dozen occasions that he can look back to in the certain knowledge that right then, at that moment, there was room for nothing but happiness in his heart.”
